At the next Green Drinks event on Monday 31 August here in Zürich, we are delighted to welcome GES member Henrik Nordborg, Professor of Physics from the Hochschule für Technik in Rapperswil, who will give an insight into Bogga Wind Power, a wind turbine design company constructing and operating vertical axis wind turbines. Francois Feidt, one of the founders of Bogga, will be joining him in the presentation.
The Swiss private company has more than 25 years of experience in this field. They develop their successful vertical axis wind turbine design with modern design tools and most advanced technologies in the fields of composite materials and power generator systems. Located at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, they benefit from close collaborations with laboratories and industrial partners active in the ecosystem of this leading technological institution.
Bogga Wind Power is developing a wind turbine technology with the mission to increase electricity production from a given wind farm by 50%. As wind farm owners are repowering their aging – high wind speed – sites, new turbines need to significantly improve the electricity yield of wind farm assets, while reducing the overall project costs of repowering. Bogga’s strives to bring to wind farm developers a low-cost wind turbine solution to unlock profitability of sites with difficult access or turbulent wind resources (such as mountainous area or islands).
