OceanCare’s petition to stop commercial whaling in Europe

Did you know that a larger number of whales are killed in European waters than by the Japanese whaling fleet?

Norwegian whalers killed 1396 minke whales by explosive harpoons in 2014 and 2015. Adding Iceland’s whale catches, this amounts to nearly three times the number of whales killed by Japanese whalers in these two years.

We miss, just like you do, a strong European voice to end whaling in neighbouring seas. Let’s join forces to change this unacceptable state of affairs – now!

It’s now 30 years that the moratorium – the worldwide ban on commercial whaling – entered into force. This decision saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of whales. Three countries, however, keep ignoring this achievement.

Whaling in Europe? A disgrace that we want to change with your help.

We need the EU to take unmistakably clear diplomatic steps against commercial whaling in its own backyard.

Please sign our petition today, as the 66th meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) is starting soon – on the 20th of October, 2016! Please also ask your friends and colleagues to join! Time is short!
