Remove the akku/charger and plug in your laptop to the power outlet whenever possible, i.e. when you’re using it at home or in a café. Each battery lives only up to 500 charging cycles. Besides the released heat from the processor also contributes to the speedy aging of the akkus.
At those times when you do need the akku, be sure to allow good ventilation, so that the battery remains as cool as possible. Clean cooling slot regularly with air pressure (available as aerosol sprays).
During breaks don’t leave the laptop in stand-by modus, instead change to “hibernate“. In this mode the memory contents are sent to the hard-drive where they will be saved without further energy consumption.
